Like all photographers, I would be more than happy to come to your event and take pictures, because that is what I love to do.
Like all photographers, I have a shooting schedule, and things I do, places I go, and events I have already signed up for, or things I have to do to keep things going, pay bills, and otherwise enjoy life.
If you want to hire me for your event that is awesome.
Some questions I want you to think about:
Can you pay me for coming to your event or can you pay me for my time in taking pictures? I know there are a lot of people who are out there who will do your event free of charge, and depending on your event, I might actually do it free of charge, especially if it something I wanted to go in the first place. But I need to feed the cats, pay the bank, and otherwise make an attempt to keep a roof over my head. I charge $200.00 per hour, with a minimum charge of 1 hour if I am going to come to your event, or take pictures.
I do not do weddings, kids, pets, or other household portrait photography, I will always say no to those kinds of events. There are a ton of very good photographers in Seattle that do those kinds of events.
I do – shows, bands, punk rock, music, burlesque, conventions, and studio model shoots. I have access to three different studios in the Seattle area, and a ton of out door places when the weather is nice. If you want some pictures for your Model Mayhem portfolio we can talk.
I pay my models, I don’t do TFP/TFTP at all unless it is a special circumstance like a group shoot where I am paying to attend the event, I will pay going rates based on your experience as a model, that can range from 25 to 200 dollars an hour for an expert awesome been down this road many times model.
You will sign a model release – the model release specifically spells out what you, and I can do with the photographs. I might take some pictures that are artistically awesome that you might not like, the model release specially allows me to keep the pictures and do what I want with them. You are not allowed to turn around and sell those pictures, nor do you really have any post shoot responsibilities. If you want something taken down, contact me, usually I am pretty cool about stuff like this, but when you sign the model release you are trusting me to portray you in the best light and with the best pictures from the photo shoot. If you won’t trust my opinion we do not need to work together. You will want to find another photographer.
I have ideas, you have ideas, we need to negotiate the shoot – you must show up for the shoot – you must be sober – and you can bring in your friends to watch the shoot. You must be over 18, there are a ton of photographers that will do kids, I am not one of them.
Feel free to drop me a note and see if I am going to be a good photographer for you, I might not be, and if I am not – I’ll let you know and help you find a photographer that will help you out.
